Work between Mora Landfill and transfer stations:  Hinckley and Cambridge

Starting Pay Step 1 is $23.67, Health Insurance, Public Employees Retirement, Vacation, Sick, Personal Time.  Monday through Friday daytime hours with very occasional Saturday morning hours.

Heavy Equipment Operator/ Trucker

Summary

The operation of equipment to receive, process, cover and transport solid waste, demolition debris and recyclable material. Handling/moving material for transport to landfill or market.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Hauling MSW from transfer stations to landfill by semi-tractor/trailer. Operation of heavy equipment at the landfill site or transfer station. Provide daily inspection and provide required maintenance on semi-tractor such as greasing, changing tires, lights and washing truck-trailer as needed.

Education and/or Experience: Requires high school diploma or general education degree (GED).

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively and present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

Certificates. Licenses. Registrations: Class A License and Current Health Card.

Other Skills and Abilities: General knowledge and skill in landfill practices and operations. General knowledge and skill in construction practices of earth moving. Ability to work with customers and answer questions in an amicable and courteous manner.

While performing the duties of this job the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions but the greatest portion of the time is inside equipment or vehicle that is temperature controlled.

This position is exposed to sharp items, broken glass and miscellaneous mixed garbage items and can be very dangerous and unsanitary if proper precautions and safely protocols and rules are not followed.

The person hired will be required to pick up the grounds occasionally.  Will be asked to use various equipment at landfill to complete specific tasks after being trained to use that equipment such as Off- Road Truck, Loader, Excavator, Dozer.  Will be expected to assist with any equipment maintenance during slow times if requested.
